Long Term Accommodation Plan and Accommodation Review
The Long Term Accommodation Plan, LTAP, is a planning document to help guide capital investment, program, and facility decisions that support the vision for the Board as set out in its strategic plan “Excellence in Learning, Life and Community.” Data such as school size, utilization, expected enrolment, physical condition, program options, demographic trends, municipal development plans and other factors, enable the Board to identify accommodation issues, plan and prioritize next steps to ensure board facilities are meeting the needs of our communities. The plan is updated annually.
The LTAP was developed after a review of all of ˿Ƶ District School Board's elementary and secondary schools, including input from various stakeholders gathered through an online Thoughtexchange, to meet the Board's future accommodation needs.
The LTAP provides the Board with information on:
- School buildings that are twenty percent over capacity.
- School buildings that are currently being used at less than eighty percent of their capacity.
- Issues regarding program viability for students.
- Ten-year enrolment projections.
- The status of the buildings, including accessibility, physical condition, and buildings where operations/maintenance costs exceed the norm.
- Indicators for future direction regarding new schools and/or additions, school consolidations/closures, boundary reviews/changes.

An accommodation review is a . It allows school boards to monitor and address changes in school enrolment. This helps to ensure that funding is focused on students when considering consolidating or closing schools. There is currently a moratorium on Accommodation Reviews.
Current Accommodation Planning
School board administration regularly review the capacity and space limitations of schools in the ˿Ƶ District School Board. Some schools in the board are projected to continue to have significantly more students than they can accommodate, while others will remain under capacity.
To identify solutions to these challenges, administration may consider boundary and school program adjustments. Learn more about Student Accommodation Planning in the three regions of ˿Ƶ.
